Hey, thanks for visiting Inspire Godliness (I.G.). Inspire Godliness is about you
realizing who God created you to be, and helping you become that person.

God created you in his image and likeness (check out the Bible in the book of Genisis chapter 1 verse 26, 27). We are created like God. Now usually this is where people go "whoa - that's too much." Generally this is because they think of God and zapping lightning bolts etc..

I want you to think about this image for a minute. When is the last time you saw God zap someone with a lightning bolt? Really.
Can you name a situation where God did that in the Bible?

Do you find it at all strange how people like to attribute everything negetive to God, insurance disasters, disease, death? This doesn't exactly describe the God I read about in the Bible. The book of First John chapter 4 verse 8 describes God in this way...
"God is Love.." So before you read you have been created like God and start thinking of all your new found power and who you are going to zap, maybe you should look a little deeper into what the Bible really has to say about what God is like. Things like... God is love, God is good, God is patient, God is forgiving, God is longsuffering, and more.

The issue around us being made in God's image is not a problem with us being made like God, but instead how we interpret that statement to fit our own state of mind rather than what the Bible actually has to say about it.

Here's an example of how some people think... I am like God, that guy just cut me off in traffic, so I am going to zap him, I'll teach him to mess with me.

Aren't you glad that isn't the way God reacts to you when you blow it! So in this same situation, in light of God's character, what might you - being like God do? Forgive them? Love them?

This website is about realizing who we are as Christians, and what that looks like in our everyday life. Check out the site, I hope it inspires you to move to a new level in your walk with God.
